I did some research on this very cool bird and it appears to be a design by "Gene Verrecchio" and he patented this design in 1941. You can see this book piece in Brunialti's "American Costume Jewelry" book on pages 59, 61 and C20. It measures just slightly under 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" and is made up of green faux moonstones in a silver-tone (rhodium-based) metal. The wings are a light blue enamel and the head is white. The bill and webbed feet are yellow. It is in excellent condition and a highly collectible piece.
