Although bakelite hat pins were very popular in the 1930s and 40s, the presence of Aurora Borealis rhinestones in this one makes me think it is a later vintage (60s?).  In any case, it is very cool!  Thick rootbeer bakelite ends, each embellished with a large AB rhinestone, unscrew to adorn your hat (or coat, or whatever!).  Overall length is 3-1/2" and diameter at the ends is just under 1/2".  Excellent condition.
