Very cool & unusual 4-1/4" x 2-1/2" x 1" gold-plated necessaire compact complete with black silk faille carrying case.  The case has a 9-1/2" handle and a rear pocket with 2 compartments and a made-to-measure comb.  The metal compact itself has a gorgeous palm motif on the front (contrasting shiny & matte finish) and opens to reveal a large mirror, lipstick holder and 2 compartments - one for powder, the other for a puff (the puff is in two pieces which need to be glued or stitched together).  There are some small pitt marks on the gold plating - noticeable when the compact is out of its carrying case, but not serious.  I think this unique piece is circa 1950s, and I would rate the overall condition as very good.  Stamped Elgin American Made in USA.
